Luke Morton, who lived in Bearwood for all of his short life, tragically drowned in August off Mwnt beach in Wales where he had gone to observe the seals and dolphins.
Luke, who will have been known to many people in Bearwood went to Abbey Infants, then the Abbey Juniors, before going to Earls Senior School in Halesowen. He was a popular lad who supported Abbey School in their orienteering events and also Warley Wasps Swimming Club.
Caught by a freak wave, Luke was swept off the rocks, and despite the best efforts of the RNLI, he sadly drowned.
His family are understandably devastated by their loss, But in Luke's memory the family have set up a Just Giving Page in Luke's memory, with proceeds to go to the RNLI. This is from the Just Giving page…
The Lifeboat service attended within minutes and didn't stop, not even in poor conditions, and continued their search for days after. Sadly Luke's body was found nearly 4 weeks later. The men and women of the RNLI didn't ask questions when they received the call, they dropped everything and went, no matter the danger and risked their lives.
