Volunteers will be out this Sunday planting up the tubs in the shopping centre with poppies as a commemoration of all of those who died in the 1st World War.
It is widely accepted that the event which triggered the war was the assassination of the Austrian Archduke Ferdinand exactly 100 years ago this weekend. The war resulted in the deaths of an estimated 5 million military personnel, with another estimated 12 million wounded.
As part of the commemoration in Sandwell the tubs will be filled with poppies as an act of remembrance, and anyone is welcome to join in the planting (see details below)
