Brum Jazz & Blues comes to Bearwood

OK, it's not Birmingham, but on this occasion we'll forgive them as…the Birmingham Jazz and Blues Festival is coming to Bearwood once again this year!

The wonderful Steve Ajao is well known to Bearwood Jazz fans for his virtuoso saxophone playing at Corks club, but less often seen are his terrific blues guitar performances. Well, now you've got your chance to see Steve with his Blues Giants strutting their Hendrix-style repertoire at Thimblemill Library on Saturday 19th July, and you'd be well advised to get there early, because this is indeed an 'experience' not to be missed. If he gets to the end without Purple Haze, don't let him out of the building!

For those who like their jazz more traditional Dixieland-style, then Midlands-based trad jazz band Barbara and All That Jazz play The Dog on the Sunday, 20th July, and there's another dose of traditional jazz, but this time with a twist, when Hungarian group the Budapest Ragtime Band perform on the bandstand in Lightwoods Park on Wednesday evening, 23rd July.

You can see the full programme for the festival here.
