POLICE are appealing for information after an elderly man was found lying in Beakes Road, Smethwickon Saturday evening, 23 November at around 9.30pm.
The man had suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital where he later died. His family have been informed and are currently being supported by specialist family liaison officers.
Enquiries are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances surrounding this incident but officers are still trying to piece together the events leading up to his death.
Sergeant Paul Hughes, from the Regional Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed the incident.”
“We are currently following up a number of enquiries and it is important that we piece together the events leading up to this unfortunate event. I can only do this with the help of the public. Very often people believe we already know something or worry their information is insignificant.
“I would appeal directly to anyone with any information, no matter how small it may seem, to call myself or any member of my team, or anonymously contact Crimestoppers, and let us take that worry from you.”
