Some of Ken Harrison’s excellent photos of the Jazz Ramblers who entertained a great crowd enjoying the late evening sunshine in Lightwoods Park yesterday. More here.

A reminder of ‘Bearwood Jazz’……at the Corks……in tribute to that late great Bearwoodian Andy Hamilton……the founder of Bearwood’s vibrant jazz scene…….get along to The Corks Club to pay your tribute to this great musician and man!…………
SILVERSHINE SPECIAL
Celebrating the Music of Andy Hamilton – This Thursday 11th July
Due to the success of our Silvershine Special in March, and due to the fact that there is still a lot of great music to get through, we will be another one This Thursday during the Birmingham International Jazz Festival. The event will feature the music of Andy Hamilton including as many of his Caribbean grooves as we can get through, performed by Blue Notes past and present alongside many of the other musicians that used to play with Andy.
Musicians will be Blue Notes past and present along with a few guests. I don’t know the full line up but there will be three of the band that played on Silvershine, Johnny Hoo (drums), Ralf DeCambre (guitar) and Ray “Pablo” Brown (bass). Long-time Blue note bassist Fitzroy Coward will be there as will Paul Foad who played guitar on Jamaica By Night, Dutch Lewis, Tim Amann and Andy Peate.
News will go up as we get it so keep your eyes on the website, our Bearwood Jazz Facebook and the Silvershine Jazz Club Facebook page (Yes, there’s just too many ways of keeping in the loop these days!).
This Concert starts at 8.30pm to make sure we can fit in all the tunes we have lined up for you!
It will be a great night so get there in good time. Hope you can all make it.
Richard, Silvershine Jazz
