Planning decision deferred

A decision on the planning application submitted to convert the site of the former New Talbot public house into flats, a restaurant, retail and a fast food outlet has been deferred for further information by Sandwell Council's planning committee.

The fast food use was ruled out immediately following representation by Ward councillors that it was contrary to the Council's policy of no new fast food outlets within 400 metres of a secondary school. Then councillors agreed with the objections of Abbey councillors and public representations about the proximity of the car park entrance to the site with the junction of the Hagley Road and Anderson Road.

Discussions will now take place between the developers and planning officers to try to come up with some revised acceptable plans.
