Jazz returns to Corks

Next Thursday, (13th) live music is back at Corks Club as Bearwood Jazz returns after its summer break.

And how!

The guests on the 13th are the superb Graeme Hamilton on trumpet and an old friend of Bearwood, local sax legend Steve Ajao.

Graeme is a son of Andy Hamilton who played on both of Andy's albums as well as with the Fine Young Cannibals during their heyday, as well as accompanying international stars such as legendary Malian vocalist Oumou Sangare. Anyone who enjoys the work of the great Miles Davis will delight in listening to Graeme Hamilton, and if he can be persuaded to do a version of Miles' Bye Bye Blackbird you will be in for a real treat.

Steve Ajao is Birmingham's top Bebop artist who famously played with the great Red Rodney back in the day and has entertained jazz audiences in this region for longer than he would care to recollect.

Combined with the Bluenotes' Vic Evans on vocals that makes for a pretty darn cool front line for you.

So, the really good news is that you can start putting Thursday night at the Corks Club back in your diary…

…and, needless to say, we are looking forward to seeing you!

As Vic Evans always says “Tell your friends and tell your enemies too”
