A real treat…

There was a very small audience at Bearwood Jazz tonight, and there must be worries for the future of the venue in the post-Andy Hamilton era.

However, the select few at tonight’s session witnessed a real treat, a guest performance from Andy’s son Graeme, a superb trumpet player himself. He gave an astonishingly good rendition of Miles Davis’ treatment of Bye Bye Blackbird, and it was great to see him back at Corks after such a long time.

Apologies for the picture, no Ken Harrison here, just me with an iphone, but it captures Graeme with the picture in the background of his late father, recently donated to Corks by Bearwood Traders.

Bob, it would be good to encourage more people to come to the jazz. I know it’s linked on this page but maybe they need to up the publicity. Having only started going relatively recently and not being such a regular as you, I’ve seen some really good performers there and I think others in Bearwood are missing out. Don’t lets lose the good things we’ve got here.
