Hot on the heels of their fantastic Picnic in the Park Warley Woods Community Trust is delighted to announce that they have retained their status as one of Britain’s Green Flag parks. It is the fourth year running that the Trust has managed to achieve the prestigious award, and they are one of the few non-local authority run parks to receive the award.
Trust Manager Viv Cole said….
“All the trustees, staff, volunteers and members of Warley Woods Community Trust are thrilled that the park has been recognised again in this way. The Trust has been focused on making it not just a good park, but a fantastic park for everyone to enjoy. The Trust has used the criteria of the Green Flag Award to help guide its plans and management and the Award proves that the Trust has achieved its aim in making Warley Woods one of the best parks in the country. Although this is our fourth year, we never rest on our achievements and each year we try to make the site look better, do more and involve more people.”
The Trust would like to thank everyone who has helped to make this award possible, from those members of the community involved in the day-to-day running of the Trust through to the volunteers who help out with litter picking and making the park look as good as it does.
Sandwell Council can be rightly proud of our parks. With six Green Flag parks, two Green Flag cemeteries and crematoria and four Green Flag allotments the Council compares favourably to many much bigger local authorities.
