Robin Hanny

I am shocked and greatly saddened to have to report the sudden death yesterday of Robin Hanny.

Robin was a big man in every sense of the word.  A great asset to the community here in Bearwood, and greatly loved by those who came into contact with him. He was a modest man who did what he did because he wanted to help improve the area. Whether it be litter in the street (he organised a community litter pick in conjunction with Greggs bakers), inconsiderate parking, his concerns over pedestrian safety on Bearwood Road, taking up planning issues for neighbours or his long running battle with the bus companies over bus parking in St Mary’s Road, Robin took up the cudgels with good humour and enthusiasm.

He was genuine, kind and a lovely, lovely man who will be deeply mourned by so many people, and our thoughts go out to his family at this very sad time.

I only met Robin on a few occasions but he struck me with his good humour, determination and dedication to his community and neighbours. Rest in Peace.
